tang suggestions for a 100

Hey all. I have been eying tangs as my next fish purchase and was wondering if you could give me some species suggestions based on my tank.

The tank is 10 months old with two mated ocellaris clowns and a mated pair of bangii cardinals. Not much in the way of corals yet, just some shrooms and zoos here and there, although i do plan on going "hard core sps" when i can afford the rest of my lights.

It is the tank size that has me wondering. It is 100 gallons, with around 200 total water volume. Dimensions:
  • Length: 6 feet (183 centimeters)
  • Depth, front to back: 18 inches (46 centimeters)
  • Height: 18 inches (46 centimeters)

So, this is a relatively shallow tank. There is lots of room from left to right for fishies to swim back and forth, but not much up and down space. I don't have a lot of rock work in there to keep as much open swimming room as possible.

There is LOTS of macroalgae growth in the display. Long arms of bubble calipura, big bunches of red ogo (at least it looks like ogo), and some other redish-white stuff I can't identify.

What species do you all think would work in this setup? And, "no tang" is certainly an option.

I personally like yellows, hipos, and naso tangs. I used to have a blond naso tang that was beautiful, big male with huge streamers.

i would look into the smaller tangs than what are mentioned above. like some of the Acathurus and bristletooth families. the powder blue, powder brown, yellow eye Kole, cheveron, and tomini tangs. all a=stay rather small for the tang species.

Astrivian,

Did you get a tang yet ?

I've kept kole, yellow, & half black mimic tang.

If I had to pick one tang...I would go with the chevron...simply gorgeous !

sohal tangs require HUGE tanks. the chevron looks a lot better as a juvi ... with age the colors seem to fade, but vitamins and garlic seem to enhance the color in mine, here is a pic of him ...
