Hell everyone, just wanted to let everyone take a look at my newest and first successful Coral addition into my Reef Aquarium. My Orange Gorgonia (Diodogorgia Nodulifera). What does everyone think?
all my tanks are full, so it is really different. but i use CYCLOPS-EZE about twice a week, and KENT microvert, phytoplex, and zooplex combined the rest of the times. when i had just a few corals it was a little more complicated because i was afraid of too much food not eaten. the early corals never did that well until i figured out to turn off flow and target feed. i think gorgonians in my experience did best if you feed daily.
Fat Walrus, looks like I will be stocking up on food and providing daily feeding to my new aquatic friend. This should be great. The Kent feeding stick is going to give me my money's worth. :-)
Looks great ZeroKoolNYC! Very beautiful specimen. Just remember that they like lots of water flow! :-)
Reefbaby, thanks for the compliments on the new Coral addition. I will not forget that they should be positioned in a high flow area to assist them in their natural cleaning and feeding behaviors. I positioned it in just that area of my Reef Aquarium and it twitching away as the flow of water hits it. :-)
hey zero, yes the high flow keeps the cyno from growing on them. they seem to like lower lighting also. i believe gorgz feed mainly on phyto but they do take in other small food debree also.
ZeroKoolNYC. glad to see your new specimen doing well. Pham411 is right about that cyano, keep eye on it. i haven't had two much problem with cyano because of the high flow, but did have ocassional trouble with encrusting brown algae.
