Calcium, alkalinity and magnesium are the 3 big ones. They're important for most tank inhabitants, but in particular for SPS. As far as feeding, plenty of light, and fish poop will do ya fine. They can catch their own food in the tank as well to some degree. IMO, with an adequate fish load, target feeding is not necessary.
The crucial thing is to have your water parameters correct and stable. This article Reefreaders - Chemistry 101 should help you with the correct parameters. The only thing I dose is kalk. I feed Cycolpeeze and Oyster Eggs.

I like your thought process here. I only use B-Ionic, Magnesium and once a week I add Combisan. A guy at my LGS says you also need to add Iodide, but don't use it myself.

i completely disagree ... iodide is an iodine based solution and you can seriously overdose your tank on iodine. you would have to keep a VERY CLOSE EYE on it when dosing iodide ... HOWEVER i could have it backwards ... i HAVE been gone for a little while !! lol
Dick, please correct me if this is backwards !!
