help, acropora trouble

tissue gone from 2 spots on back side, seemingly overnight, they were small on sunday, bigger today. also a bit on onr side of the base

1. magnesium has been a bit out of whack, too little, too much
2. it fell over into the anemone last week, could have been there all day
3. Six line wrasse
4. hermits

any ideas what may be the cause most likely?
What to do now?

If it fell INTO the anemone, that's probably it, although the situation might be aggravated by the other things you mentioned. Slow, continuing tissue loss is called STN (slow tissue necrosis). Sometimes it stops, sometimes it doesn't

i agree, probably an anemone sting. mushrooms do the same thing to SPS corals. just keeping an eye on it is about all you can do for it.

this is one of the reasons I KNEW that I had to find a permanent spot for it. anemonne so big, everything seems to fall into it

front side looks completely healthy, and the fact that it came on rather quickly after its fall...
I had read once that super glue on the spot will stop recession, but that sounds to me like it would cause more harm than good

I have heard that as well. I've never tried it, but it definitely won't hurt it.

i would use it VERY lightly. superglue heats up and could burn the tissue causing more damage.

dont think it could hurt? Would you suggest watching for a few days, and maybe... Does tissue damage come back? If so, would the super glue impede that?

Well, people superglue frags all the time, and it doesn't seem to phase the corals at all. Bobby is right though, use it spairingly. A thin coat and just cover the dead spots, with as little overlap into living tissue as you can. You DO have to cover the STN into the living tissue though.

i've used super glue a few times before without any ill effects.

this is definatly Fast tissue loss, must have been from falling into the anemone and sitting there all day. The two spots that were on the back yesterday are now one large area today. The spot on the front isnt so bad, but a little larger.
