need numbers to be able to help you. buttons are very hardy and something has to be out of order for them not to open up. what size tank ?? what type of light (PC) ?? i dont know very much about nano's, but corals are my thing !!
how long are you leaving them in the spots that you have moved them to and from before moving them again ??

i dont know exact numbers right off the bat, i could get them by tomorrow. i just did a 10 percent water chainge yesterday, but i haveny seen them open in about a month. tank is a 14 gallon oceanic bio-cube im not sure of exact specs, but can be easily googled. lightsw are 24 watt coralife pcs. polyps are sitting at top most portion of the tank, in farily choppy water.

24 watt lights are not very bright BUT, you have them up high. Buttons don't like bright. I'd move them to the bottom and leave them alone because they also like stablity. In other words, they don't like to be moved up, down, into flow, out of flow, get them down and leave them settle in.
