Hi All,
I bought this soft coral four days ago. It was labeled Cabbage Coral, but I think it looks more like Finger Coral. Any other ideas?

How long does it usually take soft corals to expand their polyps? The coral, as a whole, contracts at night and stretches out more during the day, but hasn't extended the polyps yet.

I'm finding conflicting suggestions as to placement. The LFS says it doesn't need much light, but others have said that because it's pinkish in color it should have higher light. Currently it's at the top of my liverock pile, putting the top of the coral 6 inches under the water surface. My lighting is 65W 10,000K and 65W Actinic. Anyone else wanna weigh in on this one?

My parameters:
pH 8.1
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate < 10
Temp 81.1F

Thanks,
<Mark />

To me it looks more like a Finger Coral Sinularia sp

As for lighting i have found a few places that say strong lighting

Here is a link that might get you started in further research.
