i recently bought a mature reef off of a fellow-member of aquariumpros.ca which came with variouis zoos and a pink tipped hammer.
anyhow, they had not been opening for about a month so i went to big als in london (fish stores in windsor suck)
Anyhow the dude advised me to buy bottles of coral-vite and chromaplex, which i did buy and began feeding the tank bi-weekly.
With this all the zoos in my tnak and my hammer opened (well i dunno what the hamemr did but it got bigger) except for half of a large rock of brown zoos.
There is some slime algae on that part of the rock and used to be some grape caulerpa but i removed it and still they have not opened. would the slime algae be the single cause or is there something else i should be looking for??
I included some older (cameras are all broken or unable to be hooked up) pictures of the full tank and then the zoos in questi
i even reformatted the pics so you could see them (btw the right half opens up fully now, if it makes any difference :s )
Looks like hair algae, and yes that can upset your corals. I almost lost a favia brain due to HA smothering it. By the time I got rid of the HA, I had 2 polyps left. Been almost 2 years later, and I have about half the brain back.
not hair algae, there is no algae left in the vicinity, cept slime algae, but ive been tying to get rid of some patches of red and green macro algae that got loose in the tank
well, i came back yesterday after a two week vacation to find that those zoos are not opening yet but my hammer has doubled in size and the other zoo polyps have tripled in population. I just came back from my lfs store today and bought some DT's, so we'll see what happens
You may want to try a FW dip, maybe something is picking at them.
I'd like to go on record as having not said anything about Gwen having half a brain...(I wouldn't mess with a lady who installs her own microwave and frags her own corals. Besides, DID YOU SEE HER ZOAS???)
