coral banded shrimp questions

Hi,

I just picked this up yesterday I really like him I asked the fish store owner about it and he said it will take flake foods. Now I was wondering if there was any way I could make sure I could get this down for him to eat before my fish nab it all up. I just dont want this to starve out on me, do they eat stuff off live rock? like algae or anything because I was watching mine and it looked like he was taking his claw and eating this stuff? if he would eat that should I add some nori or something in? thanks in advance if anyone can touch up on him and care level and stuff would be good...................Shaun

They're mostly carniverous, and can be agressive. Mine ate mysis, bits of silversides, pelet food and anything else it could catch. Mine killed and ate my pepermint shrimp, skunk cleaner and tried like hell to catch my royal gramma and chromis. I got rid of them. They were quite attractive though, and I enjoyed their personalities.

yes, they are one of the more aggressive shrimp out there, make sure you keep it fed well, i would use the feeding recommendations given by Phurts. if its kept fed it will stay happy, and this will reduce the chances if it showing aggression on other inhabitants in the tank

Too make sure he gets his share, pinch some flakes and hold them in your fingers, set them on the bottom of the tank near him. To make sure the fish don't eat it keep their attention by feeding them first. If you don't keep him well fed, he will try and attack his tankmates to eat.
