rock-boring urchin

ok this is gonna sound funny but my rock-boring urchin "Echinometra oblonga" wont come out of a rock. he has been in there for about a week now and i'm starting to get concerned. i can see his spines move every now and then but he wont come out of his hole. i'm afraid he's stuck. he is in there in such a way i'm afraid if i try to pull him out i could hurt him. is there any way to lure him out with some food or something?? if so what should i use? he is the only thing in this tank is i'm open for almost anything.

you'll pretty much never get it out. it's not stuck...well, actually it IS stuck, but only to outside influences.

is this something you're trying to get rid of?

check the tank after lights out and see if by chance it ventures out. some macro algae or nori may lure it out.
