| Are they nassarius? They look like they may be Ilyanassa obsoleta (Eastern Mud Snails) Most nassarius that I see have a lighter, almost white shell and foot. Those look darker.
I get Ilyanassa obsoleta when I collect glass shrimp on Cape Cod. They are much different from the Nassarius in color, size, behavior and in diet. I had a swarm of them attack and kill a fish in my temperate tank last year. I don't know if the fish was weak and/or dying and therefore was open to attack, or whether they did him in themselves.
