Tank Blogs

Hello all,

I haven't been round here for a while because I became obsessed with yet another hobby - Woodworking. Maintenance and growth continue in my tank, I just don't spend as many hours surfing and over-thinking the tank...

Anyhow, I was on this Woodworking forum site, and love the layout and features. The users are allowed to create a blog to report the progress each woodworking project. I was thinking that this would be a great way to distinguish and document tank builds/maturity since the blog post is front and center and comments trail the entry.

I think tank blogs would be a great addition to TR.

Your wood working sight looks great. I am in wood shop at school and I know how addicting wood working can be so far I made a bird house, jewelry box, book shelf, and am working on a serving tray I love wood. lol

I was president of my Jr. High School Shop Club!

My woodworking zealotry diminished in High School (in favor of Art), but I remember doing some really cool things in Metals class with lost wax casting and injection molding machines. Take advantage of the shop tools now that you have access to them...they are very expensive.

My Art School college had an amazing wood shop in an old textile mill. Never seen a shop like that since. I took a winter course there (20 years ago), and I nearly switched my major to furniture design.

Now I have more means (yet little spare time), I decided to give the woodworking thing a try...starting off with a hand tool (saws, hand planes, and chisels) only shop and see where that takes me... First project is to build me a work bench...

tank blogs are a good thing.. right now there is no "blog" feature. it is an option i can build into the site but its not free to me, so i have to make sure there is interest.

Please chime in if you would "use" a blog feature here on Talkingreef

If I started a new tank or continue documenting my existing tank, I would continue with a blog...but I understand if many users would not want to re-write their existing tank threads in blog format.

I just think a blog format is much more "clean" in appearance, offering the tank owner a bit more control over the information being displayed.

Since it would cost Rob money, then I would re-instate my premium status before taking advantage of such a feature...

yea, that like most features here are not free, i have no problem paying for it, thats what the money from premium memberships go towards. i just want to make sure its a wise investment that will be used by people

i honestly think that i WOULD take the time to write in a blog AND my build thread. it might also be a great info place for newbies, but maybe only allow it to premium members to post to ?? meaning only premium members can build a blog, but newbies can LOOK at them for a reference guide.

Is there any way to have both tank build threads and blogs?

Iunno, something i enjoyed most here is starting from the beginning of a thread and reading up til present time.

I'm not 100% on how the blogs work, just asking the question, as i do not know what costs what

Josh for your question.. yes, its "possible" however we feel that the blog method of capturing tank journal content woudl be more effective, and you will still be able to follow it the same way.
IF we find that its just not workign well, we will revisit
