Is the site slow? (3/24)

Was just wondering if the board was slow for anyone else? I know I have been hit and miss over the past few weeks on visiting and reading the posts. But I was trying to catch up last night and the board was slow loading for me, and opening up some threads were slow as well. I actually had the site timeout on me a few times and lost a reply at one time.

Just trying to see if it's somehow on my end, or my ISP, or if anyone else was experiencing slow loading pages, etc.

Been experiencing the same results today.

Thanks for the info Rob.

Guess the site is really taking off then, with the heavy loads?

I don't know if I'd say it's your fault. I was just curious if it was something toward my end....or if the site was just getting really busy.

Thankfully I don't have to worry too much about the config on the webserver at work. College webserver doesn't get traffic like a message board to actually bog down. Just have to make sure I have my backups, stuff installed if they want to play with something new, and attempt to get scripts created for what they would like to do. Now the network, both wired and wireless, is another story....that's when I'm happy I'm taking Friday's off for a few months.

Hey Scott...saw your tank cam...looks like it's time to mow your lawn. Is that hair algae? :-)

Yeah, that's my famous lawn.....or miniature kelp forest (trying my best to duplicate what's out in the ocean).

I've debated about moving the cam to a more boring part of the tank that doesn't show the lawn...but I guess I'm too lazy to do that.

It seems to be getting thinner since I've been doing water changes twice a week, around 10-15%. There's some cyno showing up on some of the hair now....and I don't mind too much, easier to let the cyno kill off the hair. But that's the only place the cyno has showed up. I'll keep up my water changes and see how it goes after a few more weeks, I'm hopeful it'll die off some more.

Scott - when I first got hair algae in my tank, I had a fake coral wall along the back of the aquarium and I think the upper edge of it was too close to the light, so it just grew hair algae like crazy. I would "trim" it every few days with tweezers and it was funny...always after I trimmed it the tangs would nibble at it. Eventually it died off and the other critters (crabs and hermit) took care of the rest. Maybe you could try trimming it every once in awhile...kind of gives your tank a head start...

I could use a small pair of sissors, but pulling it by hand seems to work too. will start with it shortly, right after I get some water ready for another water change. Would be nice if I had something that would eat it...but I don't.

I used a toothbrush in my nano and that worked good. Just be sure to blow the rocks with a powerhead/turkey baster at least twice a day to get the detritus in the water column so the skimmer can suck it up

Board seems to be back to normal speed for me today. Rob must have the loads all balanced and resolved.
