Hey Dave,
I haven't used them but I think it would make sense from energy and flow.
Off topic but have you moved yet?
Does anyone have any experience with these pumps? They seem to rate pretty well with Tunze comparing flow, gph. The only disadvantage is they are kind of bulky. I don't know if you can compare with the Vortech because I consider the Vortech is more of a wavemaker.
Anyone tried the koralia magnum # 8 - The Reef Tank
Post #6 shows the comparison, but I listed the info below and added the Vortech info.
Powerheads, Product Name, FlowRate, Watts, Price
Turbelle® stream 6065, 1,717 g/h 12, $152.39
Turbelle® stream 6085, 2,113 g/h 14, $201.59
Turbelle® stream 6125, 3,170 g/h 24, $267.59
Koralia 5, 1650 g/h 8, $129.99
Koralia 6, 2200 g/h 10, $139.99
Koralia 7, 2700 g/h 12, $159.99
Koralia 8, 3250 g/h 18, $169.99
VorTech MP10, 200 to 1575 gph, 8 to 18 watts, 8 to 18 watts,
VorTech MP20, 500-2000 gph, 6-18 watts,
VorTech MP40, 1000-3200 g/h, 9-28 watts
I currently have five Koralia 4s, but two of the magnum 8s of these would use less energy and cover wider surface area.
Any feedback would be apprecated.

I was hoping Dick would have some insight about them since he sells Koralia's.
I have not moved yet. . We have a problem with the driveway going through the neighbors land. Tried to get them to sign an easement, but one the parties wouldn't sign it.
This is turning into a real nightmare!

Gee, I am sorry to hear that. It must be incredibly frustrating for you, especially since the prior owners must have been using it.

I use Koralia #8's on my 180g and Vortech mp40's on my 150g. With the vortech you can select different flow patterns and snychronize the pumps, many options, you can also buy battery backups for them, they are quiet, compact and do not add any heat to your tank because the motor is on the outside of the tank, the Koralia 8's are much cheaper, work great, lots of flow but the flow is more direct and the pump is large and ugly also does add heat. I would recommend both products, depends on budget.
i have a koralia 1 in my nano (14 gallon) and i didn't notice a heat issue, so whatever your putting the 8 into you sure wont.

Don’t know how I missed this thread, sorry.
I’ve used the #3 & 4 Koralia pumps and I’m very satisfied with their performance. I have not used the Magnum Koralias but will in the Aquaculture facility in the near future. I have no experience with the other pumps listed as cost is a big factor in my buying decisions.
Just for your information, being a proud sponsor of TR, I would offer the Mag 8 to TR members for $154 including shipping in the USA.
