I have always been happy with the Emperor Aquatics UV's I have used in the past.
Hello, so I've decided to get a UV unit for my DT but I really have no idea what brands are good. I found one from TMC called V2ecton on the site I use to order my equipment and was wondering if this was any good. The water volume of my tank and sump comes up to 100gallons. The sump is getting pretty full, I have LR everywhere and my current skimmer is just small enough to fit my first compartment so I'd really like a compact one. So, what brands should I be looking for?
Thanks,

I'm curious, is there a chance that the UV light might kill off some of the beneficial bacteria? What about small planktonic matter?
Most beneficial bacteria grow attached to something (liverock, livesand, bio-media, etc.). They don't usually free float through the water and when they do your water is noticeably cloudy.
A UV is slightly more risky for plankton, but not that much in my opinion. What are you getting the UV to do?
