    Pat,

First clean the glass inside and out! Try shooting without a flash. If that does not provide enough light, keep your camera at an angle to the glass so the flash doesn't bounce back into the lens. Keeping the lens close to the glass can also help prevent glare from the flash.

Pick a coral or something that won't move, keep the camera at the same distance away from the tank and play with the camera settings. (If you have a tripod put the camera on it so nothing but the setting changes.) You might try the close up setting, which usually looks like a flower, first.

Are you looking for a point and shoot camera or a DSLR?

I'd look at a Nikon D40 or D40x. Don't be fooled by megapixels. The 6.1 megapixel D40 takes great pictures and makes beautiful enlargements.

The kit lens that comes with the body is fine for taking everyday photos and car pix. You could also use it for many aquarium shots. You could start with it and look into a macro lens for your b-day.

The D3000 is going to be more technical than the D40x. If you are not into learning the technical aspects of photography you would probably be happier with D40x since it has more options for point and shoot programs.

let go again, mate your hopeless...

wow bud, how long has it been between axed & re-hire?

I know one thing when it comes to camera's , well two things actually.

    1. Take any lens caps off (if there is such a thing now days)
    2. Press a button that blinds people.
