There were more corals and larger heads than I've ever seen before (this is my 6th MACNA). Lots of Aussie corals are coming in, more than ever before. Big beautiful corals in a bountiful array of colors.

    A coral buyer's dream.

"The 'Ample Times' Reporter", that's good V.

    A new MH concept, TWIN-ARC.

A dual MH bulb that burns at 10K and alternately, 20K.

    Whoa, what's this?

Still learning about this but here's what I know. Set on a timer, the lamp comes on at 10K in the morning and burns that element. Since 10K is known for better coral growth, your corals get the benefit of that spectrum. When you come home from work and want to view your corals in all their glorious colors, turn the ballast off, let it cool (about 5 to 10 minutes) turn it back on and the 20K color enhancing spectrum burns until lights out. Repeats automatically the next morning when the timer comes on again.

Comes in 250W and 400W versions. As MH bulbs go, this one with it's dual elements, is a bit more money but considering you're getting the best of both worlds (growth and color) it seems worth it.

Suggested price on the 400W is $99 but I'm sure there will be better prices offered, like at the Cultured Reef, my on-line store. Not sure of the price on the 250W version, sorry. I'll make an announcement from my forum here on TR when I know the pricing.

    A few of the folks.

Disney provided some stuffed Disney characters, their hot pins, Mickey hats with ears and other things, some free, the rest almost free. Fun was being had by the adult juveniles.

My friend Russell Whitney of ORCA, founder, formulator and owner of Ocean's Blend additives, as Goofy.

Two more friends, Melissa and Matt Kantz of ORCA as themselves.

This is John on top of his Dad's shoulders. John informed me he was taller then me and indeed he was. They were among the reefing public attending.

The Mermaids kept popping up all over the place. They were passing out SW taffy.

Russell switched hats and characters. He found the Mermaids, too. He's eating SW taffy.

This is Isabel, who I fell head over heels in love with. Isabel is not so sure about it.

    Some vendor's booths.

I've done business with several vendors at MACNA this year and past shows. I include a few here merely as a reference to what you can expect to see at any MACNA. This is not a recommendation to purchase from them, just some pics of those I talked with in random order.

Mr Coral, Sonny and his wife Amanda do a great job of marketing their corals at MACNA and on line. I have bought from them, check them out.

Unique Corals’ booth was large with three systems of frags, nicely done.

Marco Rocks, Aquactinics, and Exotic Fish and Corals teamed up to present a tropical hut theme. Very nicely done.

ORA’s booth, set up by Vanessa and Dustin, is always top notch.

    ORA.

ORA’s cylindrical Zero Edge. Really cool tank.

Till later...I’ve got to get some orders shipped out.

Here you go, V, installment 2

Another vendor, The Alternative Reef of Green Bay WI. Gooch is also a friend of mine.

Gooch makes ceramic frag plugs and unique frag stations that can be placed around the tank on the walls. He does not sell direct but has many vendors around the states.

Hey, V, how’s this for a skimmer? The skimmer V, the skimmer!!! This skimmer is sold and heading for Aussie country. The girl, Gisela, stays here in the states.

The Reef Gently guys have developed a cool device for acclimating, catching and transporting your fish. Check them out.

I’m not much for artificial reefs BUT, I do have to say these guys have raised the bar. Their reef pieces were stunning. Not sure they have a web site.

    Happy reefing,

    Dick

Of course, Raymond. The price of corals is based on supply, demand and size. The above corals are mostly Aussie colonies. Their size alone dictates high prices.

The smaller frags shown here are between $25 and $75. There’s plenty to choose from.

One can hope to do something or one can set a goal. Setting a goal is infinitely more result oriented than hoping. Make a commitment Raymond. I’d really like to meet you in Orlando. I know you can do it. You will be blown away by this event. I know the ORCA club members that make up the event planning committee and they have some awesome plans. Thanks. Yes I plan on handling the AccliMate device. It is really a cool tool. Comes in two sizes, very well thought out.

V, it seems that the collection, transportation thing from Australia has been honed to a science. The corals are coming in in great shape and oh so beautiful.

From here on out I have a goal to save up enough to go to MACNA in Orlando. The funny thing is every time I get on this sight I click on your event banner and look at it and each time it gets me more and more excited. I want to beat that date before it goes up on the tickets then all I have to do is save up for air fair which I should be able to do in about 3 to 4 months. The good thing is if I go, my dad will to, so its going to make it a lot more fun. I love going on trips with just me and my dad its so fun. Besides I think hes starting to get addicted too. lol

as much as I hate trade shows... I'll make the same goal (sorta) this one involving talking my wife to join me in a trip to next years event. While she's into the hobby I'm fairly certain she would rather go to vegas.

With any luck, we'll see each other there!!! Just make sure to give us status reports so I can calculate my kitchen pass budget as things progress! You'll pull it off!
