mag-floats were not intended to be in water permanently. it will leak water into the inside half of the set slowly. take it out, dry it off and seal it yourself.
it is now out of the water, thanks!

After adding the snails my parameters don't change. So, for my 1 month tank anniversary I add a blue chromis. He spends all of his time hiding under the powerhead on the left.

The guys finally find the other box of coral heads. Yeah!
I also think the chromis hides all the time because he is scared so I buy him a couple of buddies.

Here is another shot of the chromis trio. I think the first one was lonely. They all 3 stay out all the time!

looking very colorful now. it is kind or retro too! nice, carmie. it is gonna be a little tough keeping those coral heads clean though.

After being in there for over 4 months now they don't look like that any more! The colors are much more subdued and they are developing spots of coralline. I blow them off with a powerhead every few days just to keep the detritus out of them.

do you plan on leaving them in there to be encrusted over?Originally Posted by CarmieJo

Yes, that was my plan. What do you think?
Back in the dark ages I pulled them out and bleached them every couple of weeks. Not only was it a pain but probably just about the time I got some bacteria built up in them I killed it all! Of course I also had a UG filter and dolomite substrate. But, we didn't know any better!

it shouldn't be a problem. that how live rock started.
remember when going from an airpump to a powerhead for the UG was an upgrade? but where would the hobby be if not for the early pioneers?

lol, first came those little carbon do-hicky things u put on the end of ur updraft tube, then the power head revolution. arrrrr the good old day! when ELO where a big hit in the top 10 charts & michael ive almost run out of money jackson was still black!
ive got some fossile coral still active in my tank, snails used to clean them somewhat, the coraline, espec the pinks&purple look great on them, but good old trigger has made lite work of both in my tank now thats he's bord stiff &alone.
if i ever did want to clean them id scrub them with a clean tooth brush and leave them out in the sun for a couple of months, but i have a surplus on coral and its smaller brother rubble that i have plenty to put on a rotating cycle through the tanks, i dont though, too lazy these days!

veriann, got further back when carbon was a replacement for 100% Crushed Charcoal that hobbyists spent hours rinsing before giving up.

kinda a un-written law!
but yes, there is, no reflux pot over 5lt, they do sell the 25lt stills, but its flogged off as water distillers, a way around the laws. of course, if ur handy u can make one yourself and big as a house, but best left to your decression if u know what i mean!

i cant get over how much i like bow front tanks, orsome effect! anyways. is that the bolt hole we can see in the rock front & centre?
if it is, its almost big enough for him to turn around in there!
is that some empty snail shells in the front, they look punch drunk or did something eat them?
Vquilibrium Productions
The snails on the right are drunk but the big shell on the left came with my rock and sand and didn't make it through the sand storm.

it happens..
i resorted to collecting my own snails cause trigger picks them off like a shooting range these day. they want $10 each for the bigger one at the shop. not likely 4 me to be sucker punched into that
