    Matthew,

Maybe your system is not old enough to sustain an anemone, there could be a slight imbalance in the parameters that are not being picked up in testing or the lighting may not enough. There are several possibilities as to why you are not being able to keep and anemone. If you have lost several I would not put another animal through that until I figured out the reason for the loss.

    Good Luck

Thanks Daniel! I haven't quite decided what I am going to do regarding the cherub angel. Reef Keepers had a beautiful Potters the last time I was in there.

    great setup

This is a wonderful and inspiring journal. So inspiring, that I'm picking up my 54g corner tomorrow. Can you post more pics of the hardware and give us a list? I'd love to see a top down shot to see how the light actually fits on the aquarium. The Solaris lights are awesome, but that fixture would cost more than my TV did. OK, I want one but the wife says "NO".

Has anyone started a thread just for the corner tanks? It seems the corner tanks require some "out-of-the-box" thinking sometimes and pics of different setups would really help me along. With the limited sump space, I'm thinking everything is going to have to HOB.

Sorry to ramble, but your tank is GORGEOUS!!

    Hi Ben and to TR!

Thanks for your kind words. My Solaris sets on my glass top. I am waiting for my husband to hang it for me and then I will remove the glass and cover it with egg crate. I will try to get you a top down shot on Saturday. (Tomorrow I have the second 15 hr day in a row. )

    Hardware:
Sump/fuge made from old wet/dry, macro in the area that would have held bioballs, LR chunks under here. My skimmer pump and return pump are side by side in the large area of the sump. The pumps are Jebo 750 gph pumps. They work well and have held up but I think they run hot. I think I will be replacing them with Ocean Runners.

My skimmer is an old school Red Sea Berlin Classic. It skims pretty dry.

My heater is a Stealth Visi-therm and I have a Ranco controller. I had a chiller but it broke and with the Solaris I haven't needed to replace it, a clip on fan keeps the tank below 80 even if the house gets hot.

Besides my return pump I have two Koralia 2's providing cross current flow. I also have a smaller powerhead that is aimed down the back of the tank to keep detritus from building up. I used to just use this for a hour a night but have started using it all the time.

I run carbon passively. I have a Magnum canister filter that I use for water polishing. I drip kalk with an AquaDose. That is all I can think of now.

    Here you go Ben.

I think that this shot will show you what you are looking for.

But I thought you might want to see how it looks from the front too.

I've played with them over the year or so I've had them and this seems to work best. Keep in mind that I have a smaller wide flow Penn Plax Mako powerhead in the back of the tank pointing top down to keep detritus settling behind the rocks and it adds another dimension to the flow in the tank.

Carmie - your BTA is a total show piece! The tank is beautiful.
Do you have it sitting up against you chair rail molding? I am trying to figure if I should leave some space between the tank and the wall - I don't really want to but since you have a corner I thought I would ask....

That was exactly what I wanted to see. I thought you may have had the legs on the edges of the tank, and my outer orbit just doesn't seem stable enough. I've got it resting on 2 2x4's (which looks like garbage) just for stability. I think I'll need to find a glass top to set my light on like you did. My wife says no to hanging the light from the ceiling.

I've just got to tell you guys, these 54 corners sure are a lot of headaches but the results are awesome. The depth makes it look so much more realistic. Its almost like the difference between 2D and 3D.

Rhonda, when my tank was in the front room it was just a few inches from the walls. When we moved it temporarily into the dining room (like about 2 years ago) we left it far enough out from one wall that I can slide behind it. Had I planned to leave it in the dining room for more than a couple of weeks I probably would have arranged it more neatly. However, I have found that it is convenient to be able to get behind the tank!

Keith, I aam going to have to give you this off the top of my head. Due to the surgery I just had I can't get into the fish room. First off I time shift everything by 4 hours so that the lights are on when I get home and stay on til I go to bed. I am running the solar program with maximum blue and 90% whites. I think I have 10% cloud cover. I have lenghtened the shortest day and shortened the longest by about an hour each. I am not running the lunar program. Instead I use like 5% blues and no whites.
