1/2" fiberglass rods and weldon 16 from Tap Plastics. I'll tap the rods and secure them with a nylon nut (got the idea from Marco Rock demo).

I think that will look great. Plus you may be able to leave some ledges to attach frags to.

I started the rockscaping on the left side of the main display. I wanted to create alot of caves and overhangs for the fish to swim through. Let me know what you guys think. I'm probably going to have to buy some of the half cut Marco Rock to do the right side. I'm just not getting the look I want with what I have.

Are you going bare bottom? If not, Amphibious 2" PVC rock stands would probly really help keep the LS from going stagnant under the rock, and now would be the right time to add them.

I'm not going bare bottom, it's a bit too sterile looking for my taste. I did a 1 1/2" PVC stand out of schedule 80 and will use a shallow sand bed. I think there's some pics of the PVC stands in the thread somewhere.

I'm not nuts over bb either. I like the caves and overhang look that you are going for. To add interest you could also consider some of the rock shelves that attach with magnets. They give you a great place for corals too.

Thanks Carmie...I'm still playing around w/rock formations. I'll be picking up more rock from Marc at BAYMAC early next month. It also affords me more time to work on the light rack and swap out the hammerhead pump for a dart hybrid.

Here's a pic of the left side of the tank. There's two huge 40+ lbs of Marco Fiji Rock stacked w/2 pieces attached w/mortar and fiberglass rods on the sides. In the front is a small bommie which will house anemones (rainbow, sunburst, etc.) and 5 anemones (snowcassos or smores).

Here's a pic of the right side of the tank. There's 3 pieces of Fiji rock glued w/the largest rock sitting on top (Marco Fiji Rock). I really wanted to soften that corner and hopefully w/the right coral placement I can achieve that.

I had a chance to hook up my Kati Ani via my Kold Sterile Filter system.

    Tap water.

    Through old Kold Sterile Filters.

    Through Kati Ani resins.

I dragged out my 300 gal rubbermaid trough to make saltwater (I'm using salinity salt brand).

Update: The saltwater has been mixing for a day and is still a bit cloudy. The LFS was out of the sand I needed, but is getting more in next week

I'm really interested in how long the resin lasts and how these work out for you.

    Hi Carmie,

John at Ready Aquatics mentioned the Kati Ani resins typically last 2,500 gallons for the model 5 before needing to be regenerated. I'm hoping with the Kold Sterile Filters I can get twice that amount before needing regenerating.

While I'm waiting on the sand to arrive. I thought I'd take some pics of the water circulation within the display. Here's a pic of the left rear (3) tunze 6205's and a 1" sea swirl.

Here's a pic of the right rear of the display. A tunze wave box, 6205, & 1" sea swirl fill in that corner. I was able to place the magnets within the overflow boxes.

I know was going to have a major dead spot in the right front of the display w/the rockwork. My solution is a tunze 6100 in a tunze rock (hopefully it doesn't stickout like a sore thumb).

The Reef Octopus SR-140 media reactor came in today. I'll be using the new bio sphere pellets in it.

I just got back from vacation and had some things waiting for me.

6 buckets of Tropic Eden sand that John from Ready Aquatics was able to get for me from his buddy (some guy named Anthony Calfo).

I also received my bacteria & ammonia from Dr. Tim. I've been listening to various podcast and spoke to him regarding cycling the tank. Apparently, many large public aquariums use his products to cycle their tanks.
