The best skimmer I've used on my 55 so far has been an RS80. Are you trying to incite me to upgrade?
My tank is OK. My fuge project is in part to combat some micro algae growing in my DT. I've been testing PAR of CFL bulbs (for Chaeto growing) with my new Apogee meter that I got for my birthday. John Maloney (reefcleaners.org) suggested that I aim for a PAR of 200, which he claims is the PAR Chaeto grows best. 200 PAR is not hard to achieve with the bulb 4" above the water, but my bulb has to be around 8" and the PAR really dives, even with a 42w CFL bulb I only see 140 at the surface. I have to get a better reflector, or figure out how to lower the bulb without risking splash or submersion. 26w Flood CFLs (with built-in reflector) do better per watt than the plain curly bulbs, but the floods are only available up to 26w. Hmm....
