It looks like some type of para sight. Do you think you could get a closer pic? Is the clown breathing heavier or acting weird?
I spotted this spot on one of my clowns this morning. Any idea what it might be?
Thanks, Tom

He seems completely normal in his behavior and eating. He is very "mobile" and difficult to photograph. It took me 20 shots to get this one and he was really bugged by the red focusing light and the flash. I tried no flash but only get blur.
look's like an external parasite.

Quarantine quarantine quarantine your tank's will thank you and so will your corals u'll also avoid a lot of aggravation with pests, predators, or disease's that come on coral's or live rock or fish
Iron, I couldn't tell if it was on the fish or back glass..... what is that white fuzzy, cottony looking area right behind his gill on top of his head before his fins? Is it the glass or on him? I see the flank area that looks like a parasite, but I also saw the white thing too.

Hey S-kurve! The white, fuzzy thing is just a flare from the glass. How do I deal with a parasite? QT? Meds? Hypo-salinity?
Thanks, Tom
he is a clown, hard to kill. I bet he will be fine
I assume that you mean it'll go a way on its own and the Clown will likely have no ill side effects and is probably not contagious? Cool. Thanks.
Tom
White spot just behind the white stripe on the orange stripe? Does it go into the white stripe also?
Henry
Could be a fungus or lymph. Check out some of the disease threads to see if you can identify it and for a treatment.
Henry
Is it a defined shape or is it fuzzy like a cotton ball?

On the advise of my LFS guy, Mike, I netted the clown and tried to remove the "parasite" using a pair of tweezers. (VERY carefully!) What came off was some jelly like substance. After I removed it, there was no sign it had been there. I put him in the QT to watch him for a while.
Tom
Sounds like an infection not a parasite.

Mike gave me some Erythromycin to treat it if it comes back. Is this what you think I should do?
Thanks, Tom
feed him alot in the QT and watch him. good nutrition will do more for the fish than anything else
If needed I would treat him in QT not the display.

Well the spot on the one Clown has returned and now I found a "spot on the other Clown. This one is on the front of the right side Pectoral(?) fin. Is this Ich?
Thanks, Tom
Does it look raised?

Yes, it's like he's got some yellowish pus stuck on him.
That sounds more like infection than a parasite. Ich looks like grains of salt. Are you feeding garlic? You could pull him out and put him in QT or watch him for a couple of days an see if it resolves itself.

Well, that is somewhat of a relief!
Yes. I add garlic to the fish mush.
I'll take the wait and see approach for now as everyone seems to think the clowns are pretty hardy. As long as it doesn't show any signs of spreading to the other fish. What has me most concerned is why is it affecting both clowns and what has caused it?
I don't know why it would be like that. When it was younger my maroon used to get what I called "milk spots" all the time. They never appeared to have any height to them, they just looked like a spot of milk. After a few days they would go away. Another spot might appear the next day or the next month.
