Thats a lot of fish in one day!
I just recently purchased and added to my display tank some fish from Saltwaterfish.com. Here is what I got.
Convict Tang X 1
Domino Damsel X 1
Three Striped Damsel X 1
White Spine Unicorn Tang X 1
False Percula Clownfish - Aquacultured X 2
Flame Scallop X 1
So now in my main tank I have
2 Yellow Tail Damsels
2 Domino Damsels
1 Convict Tang
1 Three Striped Damsel
1 White Spined Unicorn Tang
2 False Percula Clownfish - Aquacultured
1 Flame Scallop
2 Javanese Damsel
1 Brittle Star Fish
1 Jewel Damsel
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Condi Anemone
This is a 55 Gallon display tank. Think I might need to buy some cleaner clams.
Thats a lot of fish in one day!
I'll let someone else say it...
all of that in a 55 ??!! how long has this tank been set up ?? 1 tang shouldnt be in there, but 2 is way to much fish for such a small tank. adding everything in one day is asking for some serious trouble.
is it to late to cancel your order ?? please say its not to late.
to start ... the tangs need at least a 6' tank. did you know that one of the tangs that you have can reach WELL over 15" as an adult ??
second ... adding everything in 1 day is probably going to cause an overload within the system. you have to add slowly to allow the bacteria in the syatem to build up in order to keep up with the fish population in the system.
third ... all of those DAMNsels are probably going to kill each other off.
the only thing that happens fast in this hobby is disaster.

Quarantine quarantine quarantine your tank's will thank you and so will your corals u'll also avoid a lot of aggravation with pests, predators, or disease's that come on coral's or live rock or fish
I agree with bobby I would bring in those tangs to your LFS for some store credit. And not add anything for a couple months.

The reason I have two tangs, is because I have a major outbreak of long green grass type algae. I have tried other animals, and nothing seems to be touching it. Figure the tangs would.
They have been in for a week now, eveything seems to be fine. Thats all the fish I ordered.
For the damsels, except for the newest one's, they have been together for about 2 months now. And they leave each other alone. The pairs stay together.
Also the tank has been set up about a year and a half now. This is not a new tank.
Just check my Nitrate, and it is still reading zero

I've givin my opinion, and pretty much said what is going to happen. It sounds to me like you have a phosphate issue and are using the tangs as a bandaid for the actual problem. It won't do any good to test the phosphates because the algae is feeding off of it and its going to read 0.
The tangs are going to contract ich, because they are going to be stressed in the small tank. This is going to spread to every fish that you have and usually will result in death if you are not prepared for it. I am not trying to bash you or your system, just letting you know what's just around the corner.I didn't have that many fish in my 125g tank.
I would have to agree with Bobby here. The long term (and short term, for that matter) prognosis here is not good. The unicorn in particular is going to be very unhappy very quickly. I'm all for using "utility" fish in your tank, but there are many other, better options, both fish and not fish for combating algae. Have you IDed the type of algae yet? What else have you tried?

I know you are not trying to bash me or my system. And I understand that completly. You are just giving me your advice and trying to help me, and save me trouble in the long, run, and I do apprciate that.
As for other things I have tried. I have tried a sea hare, he unfortnatly died within a week to two weeks. I am also running phosabsorb in my filter, and my phosphates are still not reading zero, meaning, between the algae and the phosabsorb
I have not been able to find out where all the phosphate is coming fromt. I have done two water changes, a week about, and I am still reading phosphate in my tank. About 9 gallons each time.
im glad that you understand that.
now to the issue at hand ...
what kind of food are you feeding and how much and how often ?? are you using RO/DI water ??

I was feeding them every other day, but since I added the new fish I have been doing it every day now. Not for sure how much. But my snails would clean up what ever the fish didn't get.
I was feeding them Tera Marine flakes, just had to pick up new food, bought WardleySpectra Max With Power Bursts, also with kelp.
No I am not using RO/DI water. I have well water, and I tested that right out of the tap, and it reads zero phosphates.
Could it be the salt? I am currently using Petco marine salt. I just ordered from Dr. Fosters, Red Sea Salt 200 gallon mix.
Red Sea Salt
im leaning more towards the water and food combination. im not sure that a marine test kit will work properly in any water other that saltwater.

I would agree that water is almost certainly an issue here. It's not just phosphate you need to worry about in the water. Do you or a friend have a TDS meter you can use to test your tap water?
I'm not familiar with phosabsorb. Do you know if it's an iron or aluminum based PO4 remover?
**KEEP ME AWAY FROM SUPER GLUE ... i tend to glue my lips shut !!**
Looks like Aluminum.

Wrong name. I am using Pura PhosLock. And not sure, doesn't say anywhere on the package.
Ferric Oxide
Here are some pics of the fish I added, and had in the tank.
So how did that work out?
WoW that is alot of fish in a 55 gal. tank. Do you run a sump? I had a 55 gal. tank it was my first actually. I currently have a 90 gal. tank with a 55 gal sump my sump is as big as your tank. The sump is actually my first tank. when upgrading my 55 gal. tank i made use of it as a sump when i bought the 90 gal. tank
Was just curious have you tryed a GFO reactor? YOu can get them relativly cheap. Would really help your problem. Please anyone correct me if im wrong. I will include some links to reactors and media
