Question Is it safe to have two yellow tangs

I have a 75 gallon tank, how well will two yellow tangs do in this size tank? along with two clowns?

I have heard of people putting tangs in small spaces before and even having more than one in a tank. But, It is my understanding that, to really do well by the fish, you should have at least 6 feet of tank to really give a tang room to run. I would imagine you would need much more to give 2 tangs, territorial space. Just my thoughts. Others will chime in.

the simple answer is no...sadly the number of tangs that will be happy in your 75g is zero. It is too small for tangs.

I agree I wouldn't put any tangs in your 75. If I was you I would go with a dwarf angel instead some are very colorful.

There is no elevator to success in marine tanks. You have to take the stairs.

Even in a much larger tank, 2 yellows is not a good idea. They'll fight in all but the very largest tanks.

It's generally not good to have more then one tang of each body type in tanks the size that we run. It can be done but you have to be vigilant and very aware of what is going on with your fish. I have a single yellow tang in my 215G and he bullies other fish like my yellow wrasse and sometimes my pajama cardinals! .. It was much, much worse when they were all in my 65G storage tank waiting for the new tank to come up. All of my cardinals had nipped fins, I actually rushed the move into the 215 due to the stress i saw forming in my temporary tank.. Now all of the cardinals have their streamers back and look good, but they still get chased at times.

Anyway long story short : Tangs require a lot of space, you may see people with many yellow tangs in a single tank that "look" ok, or a single tang in a small tank that seems to be happy... but in reality they are not. We are caretakers and need to look at the best interest of the fish.
