    Skimmer Queston

Hi everyone I have a new skimmer and its just now breaking in but I was wondering can a skimmer produce scum with out producing skim mate. Because my skimmer is doing that and I don't see how. This morning I woke up and my cup was half full but I have no skim mate so I'm kind of puzzled. Thanks

What was in your cup if it wasn't skimmate? Just water? Not terribly uncommon until it's broken in and then tuned.

Yep that's exactly what I do but all I have seen is a diatom bloom and from what it looks like HA. I went out and bought 2 hermits since my nitrates were down to 0.05 for 2 weeks and they are doing great one has eaten so much he switched to a bigger shell.

Lol Yes, the stuff is quite disgusting, but I do get very happy because I know that stinch is no longer in my water!
