Welcome to Talkingreef Tank Journal, This is an introduction episode, i used this episode to test out some stuff with the video and distribution process. The idea of this show is give you an idea of the HD video (for premium members) and and overview of the this new video series

This is the High Definition quality video. i was originally planning to use 1080 but due to playback needs, and file size i have opted for 720. Should e playable in iTunes and Quicktime.

Tried it on mi iPod, but I'll try it on my BlackBerry just for fun now

240 worked fine on my Bold. Didn't try the others.

did you play it on your bold directly from the site or did you dowload it to your computer and trasnfer it over?

Downloaded and transferred, but I'll try streaming it now.

Tried streaming both mobile files. Both failed with the error that the content was unavailable or the server was blocked or unresponsive. Tried via 3G and Wi-Fi. If I click on the direct link for the files, I can download them and watch.

What streaming software are you using to serve the rtsp:// links?

The computer versions were fine and I loved the high definition format. You've definately got me excited! All Hail Rob!!!!!!

The 360 & 720 worked fine for me except the audio seemed like it was a few beats ahead of the video on both. I think my telephone is supposed to play video but I couldn't figure it out. It it just a regular phone, not a Blackberry or something like that. Might be due to the fact that I am still fuzzy from the surgery, etc.

well Rob, i am coming back to the hobby very soon. i am researching some things for my tank and catching up on changes, but i will be ready when you are. if you want to send me you BB messenger info ... feel free. i just got a storm, so now i can watch the site from anywhere !! lol

don’t know if its just on my machine but only one earphone work aka its not in stereo

Hmm, I just listened to mine and it is also mono.

thanks for the info guys, you know i have been digging and digging to find out why and i just realized, its from the lapel mic im using, it only records in mono.. ugh...
i will have to see if there is a way i can duplicate the track for both the right and left channels, but im not sure how to do that yet. I have the next show recorded just need to work on these few issues before i start releasing more.

as for the streaming and mobile versions, i think im going to working with Youtube on a lot of this stuff so we will see how it all works out

Wow, its been a while. Awesome that were back. Hardly noticed a new episode was out buried under about 40 Mac/Apple podcast subscriptions, but I was thrilled when I saw it.

Glad to see you back and looking forward to upcoming episodes. Being a new reefer the subject matter is just what I'm looking for.

I pulled up the browser on my Bold - typed in that loooooooooong url and was asked if I wanted to view or save the episode. I chose to save and did so.
Opened up the file and it worked just fine. (used the small format)

Thought you would want to know.

yea.. the mobile format will likely be done by youtube at this point, shoudl be alot easier for management and they store all the various formats based on the one i upload

the thing about youtube is it won't allow you to save the file into a usable format for phones.
It saves it to a flu. ??? format.
youtube is just for viewing and not saving and transferring................
