hook it up to your main tank, much easier to keep good water
Well, i was thinking. I am gonna get a small 5 gallon tank, and drill 2 small holes in it (Overflow) and inlet. This whole set up would be under my DT in my stand. I was wondering if would be better to hook it directly to my DT, or just put its own filter on it. I would use this as a time out area, a tank for (Hopefully) some baby fish, and i dunno.
Sorry for editing. But i wanted to make this a thread for all my questions. Instead of littering your forums with tons of threads.

no problem, you could have it as a seperate system, but with it only being 5 gallons, it won't really put any extra strain on your current filtration, plus it will give you an extra 5 gallons of water volume overall
just make sure you keep the flow pretty solid in the tank so you don't have detritus settling in there
