    Bristle worms

Bristle worms. This is a topic that comes up often when setting up/taking down tanks, trapping, and just randomly.
I want to know every ones opinions on them. I know some stores sell them as clean up crews, and i personally like them.

Has anyone been stung by them? and is their sting as bad as most say. I've heard stories of it turning peoples arms completely black. And some saying it feels like a bee sting.

Please be informative when posting. I wanna know all that i can from you, the TR members.

Like, for what i know about them, i dont mind them at all. Going into this hobby, i knew the goods and the bads, and what could possibly happen to me. They help big time when cleaning the deitrus.

I have countless bristle worms and have never been stung with several tank moves/remodels

I think they are a valuable CUC member. It you ever grab one and get "stung" (really not a sting, it is more akin to stepping on a thistle) just rinse/soak the area in vinegar and it will dissolve the bristles. I have never heard of anyone's arm turning black from a bristle worm. In fact I have never heard of anything worse than a little localized burning. With stories like this being told to people maybe someone sucked one up when starting a siphon and it ended up in their brain and affected their capacity to speak. They meant to say "I got stuck by a bristleworm and it burned." Instead they said "I got stuck by a bristleworm and my arm turned black!" LOL
