    Sailfin

I just read the thread started by "wowsieskewlreef". I have a Sailfin Tang that we've had for about a year in our 125g. She has doubled in size...heck... tripled in size since we got her and is the largest fish in the tank also the most aggressive, she's fine towards the other fish as long as I keep her well fed. A few days ago I noticed she has scratches down both sides of her body so I started keeping a watchful eye on her. Here's what's happening---She is chasing my solar wrasse thru the rock at about a 100 MPH and of course she can never catch him, but the oddity of it all is the solar wrasse LOVES it and keeps antagonizing her to chase him. He can go thru cracks and caves she can't, thus the scratches. The wrasse sneaks up behind her and follows her until she sees him and off they go. I warned my wife that the sailfin was going to outgrow our tank BUT "Sally" is her favorite fish. I think it's time to get the Sailfin out of our tank for her own good. My lovely wife says she will abide by what the good folks on TR say.

I don't know the dimensions of your tank but I would say at this point you can do one of two things.

Remove some of the rock work to make more swimming room for the tang or find her a bigger home - good reason to buy a bigger tank!

Making more room for her is only a temporary fix but it might buy you enough time to set up another system for her.

Honestly, all of my tank decisions are based on my tangs and what they need and what is best for them.

There is no elevator to success in marine tanks. You have to take the stairs.
