    Yellow Tang with Redish Splotches??

My yellow tang appears to have some redish looking splotches on its body. It almost looks like someone has some red chalk on thier hands and happened to touch the fish in some places.

Does anyone have an idea of what this could be and what should be done to cure it?

    Thank you in advance.

    John

John, what are your tank parameters and inhabitants? How big are the splotches?

    Septisemia

    Carmie,

All my parameters are fine. Nitrites, Amonia, and Nitrates are at 0 levels. PH is about 7.8 - 8.0.

I went to the Fish Store and they also wanted to test my water. Their tests also came back OK. The said the yellow tang probably has some sort of septisemia and gave me some medicated fish flakes (two types).

It appears that after a few days of treatment the splotches are going away.

I failed to ask them how long i should treat the fish. If you have any ideas that would be helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to inquire about this issue.

    I truly appreciate it.

Are they antibiotic flakes? If so, I'd say 10 days is a normal course of treatment.
