    condy question

if i get a condylactis anemone for my tank, will it irritate other corals while its on the move, or is the sting not strong enough to bother anything? also, if i get a bubble tip eventually, or a carpet anemone, will there be a battle of epic proportions going on between the 2 different species of anemones?

or would it be possible to get a condy, then wait for it to find a place to nestle in, and once it stays in that location for a good month or so, start building around it?

i was only wondering because i like the look of the condys, i know my clown wont host in it, but thats why i was going to get a carpet or bta also...but if they are going to attack either eachother or corals, then i wont do it.

its a 56g tank..umm...30'x18"x24" i believe are the dimensions of it..

    thanks!!!!

It will injure and/or kill most anything it touches while it's finding its home. Same for a BTA. Carpet's aren't as mobile, but get very, very big, and have a reputation as fish eaters. I'd avoid having more than one type of anemone in the same tank, especially one that small.

hm. then i gotta make a long hard decision. ill browse aronud for more info on each of them before i make my decision though.

im lookin at bubbletips...and the green bta's look rather cool. maybe ill go with one of them.

thanks for the feedback! its good to know...

if i do get one..ill make sure that that is the first thing i get before any corals, so it can settle down and stay in one spot before buying corals and putting them in the tank.

HeeHee, be aware that this may not happen. Any change in flow, lighting spectrum (i.e. bulb age) or any other irritating condition may be reason for the critter to again be on the move.

On the powerheads, anemones are notorious for finding them and getting shredded by them. You have to cover them with some kind of netting or sponge so the nem does not get sucked in. On the lights I personally change mine every 6-8 months.
