Oh...Thanks, hi to you too.
Hope i can make the time to update my thread soon.
Seems hard to get a positive ID on this one.
So lets put it this way.
Does anyone have one that lives in symbiosis with a gobie?
If so, what kind of gobie (latin name please)?
I know this is a long shot since it seems my shrimp don't care about the sand at all.
Sure it is a pistol? I think they have one greatly enlarged pincer. Can't tell from your pic if that is the case with this one though.

Yes it is, "shoots" quite a lot when something gets close to it's home.
Thanx.
That gave me something to go on. Most likely it is a Synalpheus sp. thats the closest i've got so far. Hard to find any shots.
It is exactly like the red one in the first pic on this link.
I have had some great experiences with my pistol-goby pari. I have an Alpheus randalli and a yellow watchman goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus). I really wanted either the high-fin red banded or the yashia (Stonogobiops yashia) goby. I have learned through some research that although many seem to find them in common pairs, being specific species of gobies are more often found with certain species of shrimp.. they often will find each other regardless of species, to an extent. In other words, it may be worth a shot at a goby you would like to have in your tank, not one that some diver has seen with that specific pistol shrimp in the actual reef and claims is a better pair. This is just from my experiences and opinions. Good Luck.. its an amazing symbiotic relationship!
Great picture Gumby!

Beautiful picture gumby. You should crop that and enter it in the next POTM contest if they don't have a theme. Thanks for the pic

red-banded pistol shrimp
Looks like a red-banded pistol. good luck buddy!
It is not a red-banded pistol. If the eyes are readily visible then it probally would not pair with a watchman goby. Almost all the alpheus that pairs with gobies are nearly blind. I have two Yasha gobies(One has a single Randall's pistol and the other has a pair of Randall's pistols).
