    seahores lifespan?

I have always been curious about the lifespan of a seahorse.

I'm sure this is a species specific question but in general what is the lifespan of a seahorse?

Natural lifespans for seahorses are virtually unknown. Most estimates come from laboratory or aquarium observations. Known lifespans for seahorse species range from about one year in the smaller species to an average of three to five years for the larger species.
Hope this helps. I know there's a few people on here that own sea horses hopefully they'll chime in soon. Thanks

There is no elevator to success in marine tanks. You have to take the stairs.

old thread, but just in case anyone looks, the typical lifespan for captive larger species SH is about 3-5 years, altho i know some keepers who have had SH hit close to 8 years.

zots (dwarf SH) typically max out at 2 years with 1 1/2 years being the average.

Ocean Rider claims to have some over 10 years old! Keep in mind, they pump in fresh seawater off the Kona coast miles away from population.

Not to mention that OR has been known to be prone to exaggeration when it suits them...
