    White? BTA

Can anyone tell if there are WHITE Bubble Tip Anemones??
There is this nice looking one on ebay listed by a seller with a very high (and positive) feedback rating.

LIVE Saltwater Bubble Tip Anemone for coral REEF Tank - eBay (item 130253174982 end time Sep-09-08 19:23:49 PDT)

    is this a 'bleached' anemone??

    Thanks!

It's hard to say... it could be bleached, could be the photo or could be it's colour. Could be a combination of all 3.... a little lighter green, slightly bleached with an over exposed picture. Now, how's THAT for a politicians answer.

It looks like a bleached, due to stress, Sebae Anemone. Now, I know that Sebae are not bubble tip but, I've seen them perform like this when stressed and they are always bleached. You are taking a chance by making this purchase. The seller has an outstanding reputation but, buyer beware.

Hey, Thanks so much for all the advice. It did reinforce my thoughts of "Beware". I did send the question to the seller but have not received a reply yet. If and when I do I will post just for the FYI.

    Dang, it sure looked pretty!

Yes, Seahorsedreams, you did a very fine job at 'covering' all bases.

    Thanks again!

Well I have a white BTA which they are rare, mine seems to be doing just well and the guy I bought him from had him in his tank for a long time. In fact it was a bud of a larger anemone and it has always been white.

Well the female is freaking mean... she will bite my hand if I put it in there, usually when I am feeding. But the male just sits there and scares off any trespassers. They aren't exactly mean, just want to be left alone

Yes there is a white BTA, it is extremely comon in the trade. It should be a white/tan and completely white. Heavy Transparency is bad! Yours in the picture looks to be ok.
