thats great you take that type of notice to your tank. it can make all the difference. no 1 knows your tank like u do.
Hi everyone:
Had a Xenia sp. for about a month now, and I've got to tell you - it is my new best friend.
I've kept about a half-dozen or so corals in my tank and all are doing well; however, since I've gotten my Xenia - it speaks to me. If the temp is a few degrees too high - my Xenia hunkers down a bit. If the flow gets messed up - Xenia changes it's pulse direction. If I should have done a water change - it's not quite as full and rhythmic.
In no way am I abdicating good marine aquarium monitoring and maitenance, but it's nice to have a "friend" backing me up in the aquarium. One glace at the Xenia, and I can usually see if things are going alright.
FYI, the Xenia does go through normal cycles of clamping down and "resting", but most of my other corals have their own way of cycling through the day.
Take care,
Adam

I know if my xenia looks happy then I must not be skimming enough!! ha.
I hardly have any left in the 72g- 2 stalks BARELY hangin' on.
I have a frag in my SPS nano and it looks way too happy, but the skimmer is set to "max skim" and they still look happy!! I'm ready to hook a Euro_Reef up to my nano!!
Several weeks ago my xenia was starting to look happy in the 72g and I knew something was wrong- the air intake of my skimmer was clogged so my xenia let me know that I better get to cleaning!
dont know whats going on in my tank but when i first got my xenia they spread like crazy. now they pulse happily but no longer spread. weird, must be the phosphate levels in my tank or something.
