    BTA's gone walkabout - again

Well my BTA's has gone walkabout again. RRRRR!!!! I came home and the tank was all cloudy and the anemone was not in its accustomed place. Did I think disaster? No, I immediately thought - the clownfish is stirring up sand because her anemone moved.

The last time this happened, in July, it ended up splitting but the clone died. Any advice?

Mine stayed in the same place for a year then one day up and moved. And walked for a month. And split. And then has stayed put for the last 9 months.

Mine is on the move too, but it's because of my lighting change I'm sure. I think the best you can do is just let it go until it's happy. If it stays in one place for a day or two, you might feed it to help it decide it's current location is a good one.

This time and the last time no changes in the tank to precipitate the change. And I figure there really isn't much you can do but wait it out. Right now it is in the back which would be a great place for it to stay but that means it will move some more for sure!

I've got an anemone's gone walkabout as well. I got it last weekend and it's camped in 3 different places, for about two days each time. Right now, it's hiding behind the LR at the back of the tank and has been there since yesterday. Should I be concerned, or just "let it ride"?

I'd let it be for now. There's not really much point in trying to tell an anemone where it;s going to live.

If it stays retracted in the rock for several days, then it's time to worry. Have you fed it since it's been in the tank? I fing thart helps in convincing them to stay put.

I've fed it twice (1/4" piece of raw shrimp) since I've had it. Once in each of its first two locations. My plan was to let it pick up the mysis shrimp from the water column when I feed the other fish on a daily basis, and to feed the raw shrimp 2-3 times weekly.

Since it's moved into the area behind the rock, the tentacles are extended, but I haven't fed it again. Was thinking i'd give it another day or two, and hopefully reward it for moving to a new location.

For what it's worth, there's a pic of the anemone just after I got it at the end of my tank photo album page.

Hmmmm. I am starting to think that Bobby thinks a Sabae anemone is the better choice. J/K

Carmie- I guess if you reallyyyy wanted to get him out of there and you had some time to monitor him. You could move some water flow to his area (more than what he likes) to encourage him to make a move so you could direct him to a better area. I just say that because when I change up the positions here and there on my Koralias, I always pay close attention in not disturbing my anemones too much out of fear of them taking flight. They're at a size now that would be disastrous!

pick it up & pop it into the oveflow to hell carmie!
3 days in a drafty, dark & S@#t infested sump does wonders for making them apprechate to conditions they were just bitching about....lol trust me, they stay put after that!

You know this time I have made absolutely no changes in the tank. Personally I think that they just get a wild hair sometimes.
