    Split Anemones

I have a RBT anemone that split several weeks ago (about 6 weeks) and are both doing fine. The first week or so was stressful and there were times one or the other would look awful. Believe it or not I only had the RBT for about a week when it split Anyway they have both been in a smaller QT tank with the Australian clownfish I bought at the same time. After acclimating and adding him he was in the anemone within 30 minutes and after the split continued hosting them both, but one (the biggest) is his favorite.

My question and concern is: Is it best for them to stay some distance apart?

I have recently (5 days) moved them into one of my main tanks and they were both on a large rock, yet several inches apart. The larger one never made any placement adjustments when/since the move, but the smaller one has 'inched' minor distances each day. Today he was smack, right against the other.

I understand (I think) that since they are really the 'same of one' that there shouldn't be any chemical/physical war between them, BUT will they THRIVE better apart??

I have noticed that they are not always open real full and puffy at the same time. One will 'generally' look better than the other (equally). And this can change several times during the day... or not. Could this be related to their close distance or possibly just part of their rehab from the split? This is my first RBT (and my first split!) my Sabae anemone (in a different tank) changes in size but it is more consistent with time of day/light, feeding... very predictable.

Could this be related to the smaller tank and their close distance?

Should I separate them? Is it natural for them to want to pair up?

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated - Thanks.

Clones near one another are fine. They won't care if they're close together or far apart as long as their lighting and flow requirements are met.

Plus moving an anemone is pretty useless, most often it will just move where it wants to be anyhow.
