i think that you forgot the picture, lol.
however, they do make smaller filter socks, i think they are about 4" around instead of 7".
I'm thinking off adding a filter sock to my drain line to add some sort of mechanical filtration to my reef tank. I need help with the plumbing though. The pictures below show my current sump configuration. First section houses the skimmer pump, drain line, and phosban reactor. The second section is my refugium and the third section houses the return pump.
My problem is lack of space in the first section. Right now the drain line uses a reverse durso to keep things quiet. I dont see an easy way to change out a filter sock every 2-3 days with this setup. How do most typically run a filter sock setup? Just have a simple drain line just below the surface? I tried this a while ago without the filter sock and got lots of noise. Since adding the reverse durso things have been a lot quieter.
Also would there be any problem with running the phosban reactor inside the sump as opposed to hanging off the side? If not I can move it elsewhere and make a little more room for myself.

i think i would try cutting the PVC off about 4-5 inches below the adapter and try to find a way to hang the sock on something above it. it looks like a tight squeeze, but once you figure it out, it wont be so hard to get in and out of there.

Can't help you with the filter sock, but my phosban reactors are in the sump with no problems.
