    Any idea what this is floating on top of my water?

    I can't even scoop this up with a brine shrimp net...P1000886.JPG

    wow i think you alkalinity is way to hi if i go by the pic it looks like snow corect

    I am not dosing anything. I just tested, KH is at 9 dKH. Could my peppermint shrimp have had babies? It doesn't swim on it's own.

    ok here it go what you did to the tank before you saw this
    what is the ph in the tank i still think is snow in your tank tha happens when you tank pirm go out of wack

    may have overfed but did nothing else.

    I found the fix. Just pointed my powerhead upwards and agitated the water surface and it was gone in an hour. Thanks guys.

    It's waxes, oils, proteins AKA scum Pointing the powerhead toward the surface is exactly what the doctor ordered. You can have dead spots on the surface of the water too and cause oil slicks. Rearranging the powerheads or just forcing one up to make a chop, breaks up the slick so can be taken in through the overflow box, skimmer etc.

    was it on the surface or on the glass? I had the same problem with my tank (on the surface) and once i agitated the water with a PH it was gone for good

    It's amazing how much of a difference a little tweak can make
