call Victor Miller !! he has a $20k koi pond in his back yard !! call me if you need his number. BTW ... the meeting is there this month.
I know this is a marine site but I'm looking for any good resources for my koi pond. I'm getting a new fish next week and don't know what I should do as far as pretreating and acclimating it. If you have any experience or can point me in a good direction that would be great. thanks.

WetWebMedia has TONS of info on ornamental fish ponds. I had one at my old house, and will be installing one here this summer. I always had goldfish, instead of koi, and I just dumped them in

When I worked at the wastewater treatment plant we built a koi pond and filled it with effluent from the plant. Since we were doing this (partially) to prove how clean our effluent was we did not do any pre-treating. These were not expensive koi, IIRC they cost $10-15 each back in the mid 90's. We didn't acclimate, just dumped the fish in. They thrived and reproduced like bunnies!

You can add the bacteria and get it rolling. You can also salt the pond using feed salt. 1/2 to 1 pound per hundred gallons it will still be plant safe. You can float them if you like depends on the temp. change. I just know the basics though. I'm not into koi that much, just have to take care of them. LOL
Yes. I have a Koi Pond. This has never come up before, but I do have a pond.
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

basically I am getting a new fish from a woman I work with. I have no idea the best way to acclimate it to my pond and if I should do any kind of proactive dips.

I just don't want to introduce any parasites or something bad. Plus Koi are allot more expensive then goldfish.

yeah i here you - just having a laugh, albeit at your expense.
Here's food for thought, aquaponics. google this & maybe apply some of these principles. basicly your turning some of our associated problem we try to nutralise & utilising to work for you. There's even salt water methods using seaweed, but dont get your hopes up just yet cause the research for salt water is alot further behind fresh in the "labled" aquaponics field.
