What do you use rotifers for >? Seahorses only ? OR feeding fry ? Entire reef? Just curious...

    rotifer culturing

Alright! I have been waiting for this show. Now I can make my phyto witch will allow me to make my bugs which will allow me to make my brine which will allow me to make my fry witch will allow me to make my clowns which is... well... pretty cool in my option.
Love the show and I can never wait for the next to come out

That was a great video. I especially liked that you HAD to explain why you were wearing the same shirt... LMAO! Wonderfully educational.

Do you make your own fish food too?

    Rob,

Great show .. thanks for sharing it, I have been waiting for this one. I have a couple of questions ...

    1. Can you save excess rotifers in the fridge like the Phyto?
    2. Do you use the same water as you did for the Phyto?
    3. How long do you let the rotifers grow? Do you use them once they eat all the phyto that you put in?
    4. The bubble rate for the rotifers is slower than the phyto right?

Again, thanks for the show it was great. You are doing a great job and service to us all

you can freeze them. run them through your filter, then use fresh RO water to collect them in a cup, and you can pour that water into a ice cube tray and freeze them

    2. Do you use the same water as you did for the Phyto?
you dont actually use the same fresh culture medium water, you actually USE the greenwater. you take your fresh phyo, and pour it in...

    3. How long do you let the rotifers grow? Do you use them once they eat all the phyto that you put in?
yep, once the water goes from green, to yellow its time to pull some out and add more phyto

    4. The bubble rate for the rotifers is slower than the phyto right?
yep, i do 1-2 bubbles per second. although many people say you dont need to use air at all.. i use air, and have been very successful

as far as the clown fish stuff.. that is soemthign that is more time consuming, adn i haev been "trying" to get good video.. as soon as i can get enough good material, i will release somethign on that also.

What type of lighting are you using for the phyto and rotifers? Is it just standard fourescent or are you using something special?

link is working ok on my end, you can try subscribing using iTunes and downloading it there..

    as for your question...
i filter out the rotifers in the big green filter screen (not exactly a cup). the excess water is nasty very polluted stuff you want to get rid of there. then top off with phyto
