EP3 - controlling coralline algae

Rob,

I am new to the Podcast and have been catching up on the earlier episodes. In episode 3, you mention that you were going to try to keep the coralline algae from growing on the back glass of your tank. First, how do you keep the algae off of the glass, is it simply wiping it away with a sponge? Secondly, were you succesful in keeping it from growing on the back glass?

essentially, yes. i use a mag-float glass cleaner, and i just keep the back clean just as i woudl the front or sides. the catch is you have to keep your rocks off the back glass, so you can get the scrapper back there.

Secondly, were you succesful in keeping it from growing on the back glass?

So far so good. there are a couple spots at the bottom of the back glass (not visible from the front or sides) where soem of the rocks have shifted slightly and i cant get the scrapper back there. so algae and coralline, have grown. but so far the rest is clean..
