Exclamation Live Talking Reef Podcast Episode #5 Question.

Hello everyone, I finally had some time to listen to the Live Talking Reef Podcast Episode #5 and a question came into light concerning Aquarium Turnover Rate based on the particular species of Coral that you maintain within your Aquarium. While this addressed the most common setups with Sumps, Refugiums, and Non-Reef Ready Aquariums what about those of us like myself with Nano Aquariums where the design of the aquarium incporates a Rear Chamber that acts like a level sump or refugium? Obviously Turnover Rates would remain almost similar but concepts with equipment being utilized to create adequate flow and currents comes into play. Just though their should be a Nano Aquarium Series for those that live with the concept that bigger is not always better. This observation brought to you by the Nano King as my wife and friends would call me. LOL

in a nano you will want about the same turnover rate. this is usually done by adding a powerhead into the tank or upgrading the return pump to something a little bigger. maybe carmie could do a nano podcast series ... she IS the nano Queen after all !! lol

design incorporation is key for characteristics, but to break the concepts down in a fashion that catered for all design types would take another show..lol which incidentally your asking for. we could do with a nano subject, im not sure we have much on the topic actually.

as for the total turn over in a nano based on animal species with the same mentality of a full display, I would say i dis-agree in a certain percentage in this case. Collateral stream generation in an enclosed space can be dangerous.

That is the Solaris/Nano Queen but you may call me "Your Highness"!

I do have an extra powerhead in my nano and I removed the spray-bar too.

Well I have what I consider a great thread on my current Nano Build on the Talking Reef website titled "Jasonanatal's 28 gallon Nano Cube HQI SPS Reef Aquarium". I have some very detailed information and would be happy to lend some assistance for a Nano Aquarim series epecially since I'm attempting to hold some of what I consider the most difficult Coral species in a small evironment where the most miniscul calculation could lead to disaster.
