Congradulations on the 100th episode! It seems like not long ago when I first came here and you were on About episode 15. Keep up the great work, now, lets go for 200!
Yea rob, congrads on the 100th!
Great show btw. i have been considering a clownfish pair for a while. I have heard they form a pretty good relationship with cleaner shrimp too, is that true? Also, you mentioned they might host in hammer coral. Would they hurt hammer coral, or is it pretty tolerant of clowns?
Samuel
"If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.... There is magic in it. Let the most absent-minded men be plunged in his deepest reveries--stand that man on his legs, set his feet a-going, and he will infallibly lead you to water, if water there be in all that region."
Herman Melville, Moby Dick, Ch. 1.

yes, they may form relationships with cleaner shrimps as well, but i dont think its more or less than any other fish..
yes, a hammer coral will usually tolerate a clown reasonably well

Happy 100th!
Can you add a 2nd clown to pair up with one that has been in your tank for a while?
Rob, i love the podcasts. I have a bunch of them on my ipod and listen to them while i work on my tank.
This topic sounds very interesting, i haven't listened to it yet but it sounds great. I was just thinking that you should create a podcast on these fascinating animals. I would like to hear in the second/future casts about how to raise the fry that they may lay in our tanks: like how to remove them, setup, etc. I have 2 ocellaris . . . ocellari? . . . anyway "fake perculas" that just started to host in my BTA and i think that a clutch of eggs are in my future.
Congrats on the 100th show, looking forward to 100 more

I was wondering if you could do a bit of research and address the following in the Clownfish Series.
I have wondered why, now that MANY clownfish are tank raised, why they are becoming MORE difficult shippers? I know its not just me...I've talked to many other hobbyists that have experienced the same. Could this be the results of inbreeding stock?
I bought a pair of A. oscillarus in 2002 that grew up nicely and mated up and bred consistantly for 3 years....when I moved them into my 180...the Great Pump Gods required their lives as a sacrifice...... I tried replacing them with a samll pair of Maroons (died in 3 weeks), a pair of Blacks (died in 4 weeks), and 3 A. oscillarus (died in 5 weeks). ALL were ORA tank bred. I THEN ordered a pair of MEDIUM A. oscillarus and the mediums have done GREAT! All came from ORA, all to the same LFS. I have also noticed that many online suppliers now have small clowns listed as difficult shippers and do not include them in their live delivery guarantees.
Thanks!
Phil
Phil, definitely and interesting situation. i have to say, i have not heard anything along those lines, but will see if i come up with anything
