Question New Gold Stripped Maroon Clown Fish Needing Host.

Hello everyone, I just purchased a beautiful Gold Striped Maroon Clown Fish and I'm interested in getting it a beautifully colored Anemone to host it. I have been advised that they are fairly particular in which types of Anemones they will accept as host. Any suggestions would be great.

personally... i like the rtba for clown fish. i have seen the carpet anemones but, i like the shorter tips of the rtba.

i have a friend that has a long tentacled anemone and it is beautiful! it's a very pretty purple color. he has two skunk clowns that host it. he has a 75 gallon tank and it's tentacles will reach all the way to the top of the tank on some days.

good luck and we are looking forward to some pics once you have made your decision.

i too would look at a BTA.. (i actually have a few of them)
they are nice looking and "relatively" hardy (that is, for an anemone)

And, BTA's are the anemone that maroon clowns host in nature. Of course there is no guarantee that a given clown will host.

Yup, ours went through a little pump and a few of the "bits" lived to grow again.

Well I purchased a Beautiful Green Tipped Bubble Anemonome for $60.00 from House of Fins in CT. Acclimated it my tank and it started its normal search for a comfy spot. I woke up only to find it stuck in a Penguing 1120 300gph Power Head is currently laying on the bottom of the Aquarium in a ball. I hope it survives.

yep.. make sure you listen to the anemone podcast.. one of the most important things when introducing an anemone is to cover or turn off all your pump intakes until it settles in...
