    clown video

I recently posted a video of my two clownfish on youtube. The debate for the 2 years that I have had them has been, are they both perculas. Not sure, the local fish store clerk (a long term employee and working on a degree in aquaculture) was 99% sure they were both percula clowns.

    Anyway, check out the video

    Nice looking clowns.

I'm sure Rob can chime in, but it was my understanding that true percs have a wider black border around the white bands, which would lead me to believe the one you do a closeup on was an ocelaris. I'm no expert, so take it for what it's worth

I think (and am no expert either) that is some sort of a mating ritual. I guess they will do that and also look like they are having small seizures. This is to show the mate they are interested and to clean out a spawn spot. I have never seen it in the sand bed but mine do it to my LR all the time.

If you are not sure you need to count the number of spines in their dorsal fin.

my gues is that they are Ocellaris also, but yes, as wakbrbfr is right to tell for sure you need to count the dorsal spines
a Percula will have 9-10 spines and on ocellaris will have 11-12

as for yours Manny, that is a normal pre mating nesting behavior. its normal when they are looking to find a place to call home

an anemone is not needed for anything, you can get one if you want but that wont help or hurt anything

as for what you need, i will be doing a full series on this, but dont worry, it will likely be many month before spawning begins

if they have spawned in the past that is a good sign, however that does not mean they will spawn soon again (possibly, but not for sure)
the disruption of moving them will stop them and it could take months for them to start again
