I dont know what this snail is, I think my lfs gave one that I didnt want. Well anyway where I had put the snail when I first got it is where it pretty much stayed for the whole week. Tonight I look in and there is like a cobweb mucas type stuff coming from it. It's still alive and it's extending from its shell. Does anyone know?

it sounds like its dead and decaying. are you sure its alive? has it moved at all?
Vermettid snails will do this. This is how they "Fish" for food. Other tube type snails do this as well. Some of them actually have fleshy appendages, while others spin a web of mucous.

I think justDavidP is right that must be what it is, becuase it has been moving around.
Vermetid snails dont move around they are tube snails. is there any chance of getting a picture of the snail?
