I would say that you would want to put the pump in with the top-off water so from that point on you would want to use hose which i think the hose for the outlet on the MJ's are 1/2? Just take it with you when you get the hose.

What type of floats are using?

Usually in auto top offs you have a float within the sump, that tells the auto top off pump when to start pumping and when the water level is high enuff to turn off the pump. Then you have a float within the auto top off tank or bucket that tells the pump when the water is to low and turns the pump off so the pump doesn't burn up. A MJ has such a power spike when it starts up it will fry smaller floats unless they have wired in a relay. What i did was i used a aqua lift pump and two floats i bought. The aqualift pump doesn't have that much of a spike so it doesn't harm the floats. It works like a charm

hey wes, about the one to turn off the pump, i was planning to buy the pressure sensor one to top off,but for the one to keep the pump from burning, could i use the float? cause i definately dont want to spend another 50 bucks on the pressure one. or i guess im asking how to set the float on to keep the pump from burning.

The amount of water that you bring into your sump should only be more than what is evaporating. Basicly it doesnt matter.

I spent i think $15 for both my floats from Aqua Hub. They are very easy to wire in and for the price you can't beat it. I think for the 5gal tank, The pump and both floats i have less then $30 in it. Here is a picture that might help describe it better.

Sorry for the crude drawing lol
