snails are hemaphrodites or do they shoot love darts into each other, i cant remember. mental note, stay off the scotch!
Hello Everyone, I have a 30 gallon aquarium that has been running for quiet some time now that I'm interested in using to breed Nassarius Snails and Hawiian Zebra Hermi Crabs and Belize Turbo Snails. Has anyone ever attempted this or could they steer me in the right direction? Thanks for the help.

Veriann, so what your saying is just provide the normal water parameters and calcium dosing and they should do this by themselves? Is their anything specific I shoul look at such as temperature or special food or chemical dosing?
Sounds like a good Project DIBS question... just be sure to bring the knowledge back over here

i dont know jay, snails just breed by themselves in my tanks, wake up one morning and there onto everything! ive found the best way to extract them is via a sponge over a power head intake. other than that i havn't taken the time to fuly understand them!

A question for you all. I want to be able to duplicate the natural temperatures within their breeding aquariums. Would any of you happen to know the temperatures for the following:
Mexican Turbo Snails
Belize Zebra Turbo Snails
Hawiian Zebra Hermit Crabs
Nassarius Snails
Project dibs would be a great place to start. if you are eligible to become a breeder you have the option of getting warm water turbos. most of the turbos you find in stores ( that i have heard anyways ) are cold water snails. Check it out i think you would like it..

Do I have to re-register at the Project Dibs website? I can't seem to login.
Yea you'll have to register with project dibs.. its free and takes just a few minutes..
Stop The World, I Want Off
The registry is complete I will be poking around tonight during some down time at work and will keep everyone posted.
All of these listed will probably be rather difficult to breed. Of course these are common names for the animals, knowing the scientific names would be helpful in searching on how to raise them.
There have been some reports of Nassarius vibex breeding in captivity, but I haven't found any details on how to raise the larvae. They are definitely on my list of animals to try breeding.
You could consider trying to raise easier invertebrates first.
Also, Dr Shimek just released a short paper on how to raise larvae.
