    need baby clowns

I would like to buy some baby clowns from a local breeder (Ocellaris).

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a breeder in the Chicago or Milwaukee areas.

    Thank you!

Thanks! I just figured that if a local reefer is raising clowns in his basement and is willing to sell his/her baby fish to the LFS for $8 then they might sell them to me for that price too.

    Thanks a lot,
    Eric T.

I live in Oconomowoc, but I go to school in Madison, so it depends. I like Aquatics Unlimited, but I think their prices are high. In Madison I like Aquatic Specialties on University Avenue.

i usually take the tile out (they lay the eggs on a ceramic tile) the night before they hatch, and place them into the grow out tank, but since i wasn't here for the spawning, i misjudged the hatching...

i had a feeling i was off, but my plan was to pull them out today, but they hatched this morning... should have been taken out last night.. needless to say, they were gone by the time i got there this morning

if you mean cannibalistic, yes, they will eat the fry, but its more common that they get stuck in the filters, rocks, eaten by coral, or other stuff in the tank, but most likely starve within the first 24 hours.

the broodstock tank is about a total polar opposite of the conditions deeded by the fry. too much light, sides not covered, too much low, imperfect water quality, many types or predators, etc.. this is why they come out to get hatched in a separate tank where i can meet there needs

Rob, one trick that i've seen before is to place that slate or tile into a container like a kritter keeper. it cuts down flow and give you a bigger window of time to extract the entire contraption.

    Rob,

Are your clowns laying eggs in your main display tank?

How did you get them to lay their eggs on that tile? And how did you know where to place that tile in the tank so they would find it attractive as a nest?

I would love for this to be some kind of topic on the podcast.

    Thanks,
    Eric
