    lighting for a new tank

I am changing from a 55 gallon tank to a 90 gallon. I currently have T5-HO lighting with 4- 54 watt bulbs. Will the lights be okay for use on the new tank? If not, what are your suggestions.

What are you planning on putting in the 90. Depending on how high you have the rockwork stacked, you should be able to keep a variety of softies and some LPS. Personally I'd look into an upgrade.

What about LED lights? What I read sounds really good. More intensity, less wattage. What do you smart, experienced people think?

If you are wanting to be able to have any coral in your tank I would suggest going with an upgraded T5 fixture of 6 bulbs or more, preferably more. If you go the LED rout dont go cheap and make sure you do your research on those lights because some may look like they can support marine life and will even say it but dont live up to their words. Good luck!

There is no elevator to success in marine tanks. You have to take the stairs.

Talk to Dick at The Cultured Reef, a TR Sponsor, about the LED lights he is using in his coral growing facility.
